Free dlc says I must own the game to download when I have disc copy

It did not work it only gave me the option to buy the game again

Have you tried launching the game and while you are on the main menu go to store or downloadable content? Or while the game is still running go to your dashboard then the store? Or maybe try giving your console a hard reset.

Is your disc game being recognized by your console? Try to delete it and download it again.
