    Any news about when the next FPS boost update will happen? I know the programme has stopped but I'm really wanting to go back and play some of my favourite titles. E.G. The AC franchise start to finish but it's incredibly jarring to have some run at 60fps and some at 30 and it spoils my enjoyment having to switch back and forth. Same with other games like the Tomb raider series where the middle game is 30 and same with Dishonored. It's stupid and makes playing these games difficult after playing the previous game in the series at smooth framerates.

    I know it's not as easy as people make it sound and I know the Microsoft team has to work closely with the game developers and different teams to make it happen and some are more complicated than others due to the programming. But I'm sure if this was made a slightly more pressing issue it could and would be sorted out fairly easily! I'm not alone in this request and I would really appreciate it if someone at Microsoft actually listened and did something about it.

    Give us the choice to switch Xbox One X enhacements on/off under "Compatibility Options" (for all FPS Boost games)

    Yes, we have the choice to turn off auto HDR and FPS boost. But if we want FPS Boost and 4K for Fallout 4, this isn't possible unless we exploit a glitch that will inevitably be patched in the very near future.

    I'm suggesting enabling/disabling FPS Boost for these titles should not also enable/disable 4K (one x enhancements). It should be an additional setting that we can toggle to get the experience we want!

    Hi,

    Sadly FPS boost was part of the BC project which as you know has now been shut down. It wasn't a simple process to get older games to run at 2x (30 to 60) or 4x (for 120) of their original speed, it's not like editing a config file like it is on a PC.

    It's now really down to developers to update their old games to run at better frame rates. However, because it's not a simple process, I wouldn't expect to see many games get the update treatment.

    Developers actively updating their old games is how Assassins Creed Origins and Odyssey got their 60fps updates.

    Rise of the Tomb Raider already has a 60fps mode as does Shadow of the Tomb Raider.

    Another reason that I'd read about was that for some games not getting FPS boosts is that the developers simply don't want their game to be boosted because they may already be working on "re-mastered" version of said game.

    As far as I'm aware, FPS boost was part of the Xbox backwards compatibility project, a project that has unfortunately been discontinued. No more BC team means no more games with FPS boost.

    It's was not as simple as putting a bit of code into a game and unlocking the frame rate. Not a simple fix at all. If it had of been, hundreds of games would have had the boost applied. Sometimes upping the frame rate on certain games can actually break a game. I've seen this issue on older PC titles.

    This is a community forum, so we can't say for sure if Microsoft will enable FPS boost on more games in the future, but for now at least that's not the case.

    For Xbox One games like RDR2, it's up to the developer now to release a patch/update to make their game run at a higher frame rate.

    That makes sense - if only more developers would release patches that would be so insanely awesome! Especially large open world games like RDR and GR WL. Mad Max got one and it looks beyond sweet.
