FPS Boost issues on Battlefield 1 only

    Hi everyone,

I keep having this flickering screen issue when trying to play Battlefield 1 at 120 fps. I am playing on Xbox series X and just got a Samsung S95b TV recently which can handle other games like Call of Duty and Fortnite at 120 fps no problem. I tried different options in the Xbox setting but for some reason I keep running into an issue with this game. Anybody have this issue before?

FPS Boost issues on Battlefield 1 only

    Hi MDavila23,

Welcome to Xbox Community Forums. We appreciate for sharing your concern with us and we hope that you are doing well today.

We understand the inconvenience caused. As per description, you encountered a flickering screen issue when trying to play Battlefield 1 at 120fps. on Xbox Series X, Samsung S95b TV. Let us check on this together and sort this out to assist your concern. However, before we proceed, we would like to ask few questions about it.

    1. When did the issue start?
    2. Is the video graphic updated?
    3. Do you have an updated driver?
    4. Are there other games affected with the same error?
So far, from the details you provided, you can try the following steps and let us know the result. You can just skip those you have done already.

First test - lower your settings, and see if there is any improvement in performance

optimized Nvidia or AMD drivers, or experimental graphics improvements that have not yet been fully tested.

If that’s the case for you, it may be due to the latest video card releases — Nvidia 1070/1080 are the worst offenders, as they should have no trouble running Battlefield 1. Here are some things you can do to help:

Note: Try each of these suggestions independently.

Try them one at a time.

    • If you are overclocking, make sure you are running at a steady .ghz - if not, disable overclocking.
    • Disable the Origin Overlay
    • If you have an SSD (solid state drive) install to SSD rather than the standard HD.
    • Switch from DX12 to DX11.
    • Download Beta drivers for your video card.
Find the latest drivers / beta drivers here:

Let us know the result and we will get back to you as soon as we can. We may recommend further troubleshooting steps once we have received your answers to the above questions.

We will be glad to follow up and help you.

    Sincerely,

No FPS Boost for Shadow of the Tomb Raider

    Hi,

I believe there is some confusion between 'Optimised for Series X|S' and FPS boost. When a game is optimised for Series X|S, it means that a game update was released from the developer of that particular game to boost it's graphics and performance. Optimised games will not have an FPS boost option in compatibility settings.

The recent update to Shadow of the Tomb raider increased the game resolution to 4K (using dynamic rendering) increasing the frame rate at 4K to 60 fps. The Xbox One X version of the game only runs at 30 fps in 4K.

FPS boost is a game modification made by Microsoft's own BC team, the developer doesn't provide this boost. Some Xbox One games with FPS boost have it enabled by default, others (usually the 120Hz enabled titles) do not.

Like I said earlier, Optimised games do not have an FPS boost option as the performance has been increased by the developer.

    I hope that makes sense.

Destiny 1 on the Xbox X is running around 10-15 in frame rate.

We're sorry if that didn't work. Let us continue to work on this together and isolate the issue.

You can try closing and reopening that particular game if you're still having frame rate problems with it.

    1. Press the Xbox button on your controller.
    2. Select the game with which you are experiencing frame rate issues.
    3. Press the Menu key.
    4. Select Quit and press A to close it.
    5. Open the game once again.

Also try to improve the framerate by following the steps below.

FPS Boost and Auto HDR: For most games that support FPS boost and/or auto HDR, the feature is on by default. However, for some games, you’ll need to enable it manually. To do so:

    1. Press the Xbox button on your controller to open the guide, and then select My games & apps > See all.
    2. Highlight the tile of any game and then press the Menu button.
    3. Select Manage game and add-ons.
    4. Select Compatibility options1.
    5. To enable FPS boost, simply check the box.

For more details on the steps, see Configure your console for FPS boost and auto HDR | Xbox Support.

FPS Boosted games should be boosted to both 120fps and 60fps

I think the above advisor got their information confused.

There are no 120Hz only titles on Series X, either with new titles or via FPS boost.

If a game has been given only 120Hz support with FPS boost then it means the game already supported 60Hz on release.

What games are you referring to specifically?
