Forza Horizon 5 won't install but the disk space is allocated and unavailable

First, welcome to the Xbox community. Given the problem you were having regarding the game not installing, maybe the solution below will help.

(Some users have reported that this allows downloading the game)

1. Go into the Microsoft Store and search Forza Horizon 5 Standard Edition.

2. Next you want to click on Forza Horizon 5 Standard Edition and you want to click Install from the Xbox app.

3. This will take you to the Xbox app and when it takes you to the Forza game scroll down and look at the tab named "Included in this bundle" And click Forza Horizon 5.

4. This should take you to the regular Forza Horizon 5 game rather than the Standard Edition, And then you want to click install and this should download the game.

- I noticed that you mentioned that you managed to solve the problem installing on another HD, so I believe that the solution above will no longer work, as the procedure above can help in cases where the game stopped installing suddenly, but the files will still be allocated, the solution above would solve the problem and bring the download back to where it left off.

(This is a BUG and the developers are already aware of and are working to resolve this issue.)

- Regarding where the files are allocated, they are in the WINDOWSAPPS folder, by default this folder is blocked and you cannot access it, but in some cases, you can follow the instructions in the article below.

Unfortunately this is a small problem with the Xbox, usually it allocates it to WindowsAPPS if you downloaded it from the Microsoft Store, in this case you can only resolve it by downloading the game again to complete the installation and uninstall the game completely. I had this problem with Ori.

You can try downloading treesize_free to try and locate the game folder.

I have reinstalled the xbox game pass app.

It is still showing Forza Horizon 5 as uninstalled.

When attempting to install, it shows 110gb of storage space free (I know that this should be closer to 220-230gb)- suggesting that the failed install from last night is still hogging drive space.

If I try to install Forza Horizon 5 again, it lingers on "preparing install" before failing without any error messages

It seems like there is some corrupt data somewhere that I need to clear both to free up space and allow me to reinstall the game.
