Forza Horizon 5 - Install Issues/Hard Drive Issues

Last night, I begun to install Forza Horizon 5 through the xbox game pass app. I had clear enough space in my C drive so that I had around 230gb of space available (more than enough of the 120gb required).

The download was about 30% complete before I paused the download and closed my computer with the intention of continuing the install today.

When I open the game pass app earlier to continue the install, the app showed that the download wasn't in progress at all. When I go to try and install again, the app tells me that my C drive only has 110gb of space remaining. After clearing some space down to make room for the Forza Horizon 5 install again, the install reaches the "preparing install" stage before failing without any error messages.

This seems like there is 120gb of space on my hard drive currently being hogged by this "phantom install" that is also preventing me from attempting to reinstall the game.

What can I do to resolve this issue? Is there some cache folder that should be purged?

so we have to reinstall windows just to get the one game to download.... shoulda dropped on PS never had this problem

This is incredibly frustrating. This is the best case scenario too, a windows game, on a windows app, in a windows computer, how can they get it wrong?!
