Forza Horizon 4 on xbox one disk ... Scam?

Hi I recently got Forza horizon 4 on the Xbox game pass. When my month expired I deleted the game. If I get Forza horizon 4 on disk, will my progress from the digital copy I got with the Xbox game pass transfer to the disk copy?

Xbox Play Anywhere only applies to digital games. Xbox Play Anywhere games can be purchased in the Xbox Store, the Microsoft Store or via a digital code. It does not apply to games purchased in disc.

Why can't you either use the disk on pc - that doesn't cause any problems

1. The game is on Blu-ray disc. Most PCs don't have an optical drive, let alone a Blu-ray drive. The PC I built last year doesn't have one and there is little point since PC games are download only now.
2. Xbox games are unreadable on anything other than an Xbox console - it prevents piracy

Or make the disk unlock the digital version on the first account it is installed on

Like it or not it's a business decision. Microsoft is a business. It's not a scam. Play anywhere has been like this from its conception.

Just for additional info, this is the official FAQ:

Forza Horizon 4 Delisting FAQ

It states that any unredeemed codes will expire on June 25th 2026, so you still have a while to try to obtain one if you want to own the game digitally, but I'd recommend purchasing a disk instead to be sure as there are scams where people sell already redeemed codes. It's easier to get a physical disk anyway as there's a lot more available.

It will probably run from Gamepass. I have Forza Horizon 4 both disk and from Gamepass and when I play it, it runs from Gamepass.
