    Forza Horizon 4 causing Windows to crash when launching game


    Whenever I try to launch Forza Horizon 4 on Steam, the game starts to launch, the whole system becomes un-responsive then the screen turns black and it just sits there. The fans stay spinning but the temp screen on my AK620 Digital cpu cooler turns off. Event Viewer shows that a bunch of Windows services stop working but does not give any other useful information. Windows reliability reporting also turned up useless.

    I have a Ryzen 7 9700X, 32 gigs DDR5 6000, and an Gigabyte Windforce model of the RTX 4070 Super.

    I double checked that I have all the newest drivers, ran the sfc /scannow command in Terminal, and even re-installed the game.

    Other than this issue with Forza, the system is perfectly reliable with no issues, even in other games. I know that my psu (Corsair RM750x) is good and that my cpu is not overheating.

    I have the same problem here when the game was launched and resolving by cleaning standby memory before play with RAMMap.

    You can try to find the crash logs on the Windows software known as Event Viewer. There, find Forza Horizon 4 and check what's the crash log around the time the game stopped working.

    Please try this before the clean boot:

    If Forza Horizon 4 is disabled from being a background app it may crash or hang when suspending and resuming. check whether the setting is set to Off: Privacy > Background apps > Forza Horizon 4 > Off. Please keep this setting On.
