Sorry to hear about your in-game audio issues with Fortnite. Let's see if we can help.

So just need to understand something really quick. If you are utilizing the in-game party system available inside Fortnite, this might be something that Epic is working on. I did a quick search and found this article on their support page that offers assistance with this very issue.

If the issue is happening in an Xbox party, we have a support page here to go over some common issues and steps to fix them.

You can also check to see if your party audio is being balanced correctly by opening up your audio headset settings menu from the quick guide

1. Open you quick guide on your console by pressing the Xbox button
   
2. From the Home menu, select the Audio option in the bottom right
   
   1. This will only show up if you have a headset paired or plugged in and turned on
      
3. change your Audio balance under the Headset Chat Mixer slider option in the middle
   
   1. Please note that if you have it all the way to the right you will only hear game audio and no party chat, and the opposite if you have it all the way to the left

Have you been having trouble communicating in xbox parties too or is it just in fortnites gamechat?

Hello, I've read your post, and I believe I understand your position. The Xbox Ambassadors are here to help.

I'm fully familiar with the situation, I play fortnite competitive, and I deal with this communication issue on a daily basis.

Fortnite has its own audio settings and communication settings separate from Xbox. Start up the fortnite game, and in any menu or lobby once it's loaded, press the menu button. Right bumper click over to the communication settings, go down and adjust it
from party to in game. If your child ever joins another online party, it automatically switches communication settings, then you will have to go back and reset it. I have found it best to just invite my personal friends to an Xbox live party and communicate
with them solely there.

I like parties because there is toxic people in game lobbies and people are loud. In parties it's easier to communicate with a team like if you are completing a GTA heist or if you are in a squad on Fortnite.

Can you use "party chat" while you are playing Fortnite with XBox One?

Yes, that is currently what my son is using to communicate with his friends while playing Fortnite.
