Fortnite Install Stopped Error

Greetings,

My wife and I have been playing Fortnite on and off for a while now, me on my PC and her on her Xbox. For whatever reason the latest update caused a serious issue with the game. It wouldn't update, then finally I got an "install stopped" error with the suggestion that the files might be corrupted and the game needed to be uninstalled and then reinstalled. I tried doing that, but even after completely uninstalling the game and then reinstalling it from the Microsoft Store, I continue to immediately get an "install stopped" error, and the game shows as installed with 0.0 GB of data.

I have tried all of the following from various internet/YouTube searches:

- Multiple attempts to clear download queue, uninstall completely, then reinstall via the Microsoft Store app

- Hard reset (power off ten seconds, unplug power for 2 minutes, restart)

- Clear local saves from the storage devices section

- Reset alt MAC address from the advanced network section

- Delete her profile and log back in...still does it

I'm not sure what else to do aside from a factory reset, but my wife doesn't want to do that because of some installs that require codes she doesn't have anymore or something like that.

I do not get this error with any other game, whether a fresh install or an update. It's only Fortnite. Is there something I've missed that might fix this problem, or is a factory reset the only option left? Will that even fix the problem?

Hi,David! I'm Luis, a fellow Xbox Gamer . Thanks for reaching us out here.

I would suggest you to try and performed the factory reset while also keeping the games and apps.

Select System > Settings > System > Console Information

Select Reset Console.

Restore and keep my games and apps.

Also, once a code is redeemed the content is forever tied to the acccount used to redeem said code. So it really does not matter what you do with the hardware. As long as you have access to the account, content will be there.

when you did the factory reset did you do a full reset or, the keep my games and apps option? i did the keep my games and apps and its still not working.
