Fortnite / Crossplay between XBOX and PC/Switch with Child account

This is the problem, when the account is a childs account that setting simply doesnt appear in the settings menu.

Yes, unfortunately that option in Fortnite will not show up on child accounts. There is no amount of troubleshooting that will set enable this setting to appear either. The cross play option will remain unavailable for child accounts until Microsoft rolls
out the update that will allow parents to change this setting for child accounts. We will keep you guys updated as soon as an ETA is announced.

Hello all,

The moment has come finally.With the November update the change should now be implemented to enable the cross play you will need to do the following:

1. Log onto the parent account
2. Go to family then manage family members
3. Select the child profile
4. go to privacy and online safety then Xbox live privacy
5. then go to view details and customize-communication and multiplayer
6. Then select you can play with people outside of Xbox live and select allow
7. to allow them to communicate also select "you can communicate outside Xbox live with voice and text

Just to confirm, will this allow pc players to play with xbox child accounts? Also thank you for finally sorting out this problem.

The setting for some reason is not on the console however, it is on the website. You can switch the settings on the website. We are looking into why it hasn't been implemented on the console when it should have been implemented. We will update everyone as
soon as we know anything.

This will allow child accounts to play with anyone cross play if parent allows it. (ex playstation, Nintendo switch, pc and mobile)

I have found the settings on the website and put both on allow, however when i try to send an invite from pc to xbox i doesn’t allow xbox to join. Do i need to wait a while after doing the settings on the website to have it register on the console, or
will it not work until the settinga are available on the console.

I can't find the settings on the website, can you please share a link to do so, please? I don't seem to be able to see detailed xbox family settings for my children. I've searched them on the console, but as you say, they're not there yet.

Thanks for reaching out to us! We understand it can be confusing when trying to adjust the child account settings for cross play. Our update was released November 14 which we tried to include the update for Cross-platform access for child accounts. We have
received reports that there was issues applying the setting change. We are still working on correcting the issue so it may not work but here are the steps just in case.

On the console:

Press the Xbox Button on the controller (don't hold the button) > System > Settings > Family: Select the child account to manage > Privacy & Online Safety > View Details & Customize > Communication & Multiplayer.

The settings to change will be:

You can play with people outside of Xbox Live = "Allow"

You can communicate outside of Xbox Live with voice & text = "Everybody"

On the Website: Go to
Xbox Settings on our website. It will ask for the login information (E-mail/Password). Go to Privacy & Online safety. It will ask for the password and account verification. Then select the settings (written above) under the privacy section as well as Xbox
One settings section.

Make sure to select the correct account for the changes. Then save the changes.

So, I have tried to look for the settings on the actual xbox itself and they are not there, the Xbox I am using is in the UK (dont know if this will make any difference). The settings however are online on the website and I have turned them all on there
but it still doesnt work when the xbox account tries to play with a pc account.

Also, after the settings are enabled is it meant to make the setting within fortnite to enable cross play show up, or does it just enable cross play in the background and the setting in fortnite still will not be there.

 

Yes, same thing here. Setting in Xbox is nowhere to be found. Done it via web, but it's still not working. I can see he is online, but we can't join party invitations on either side.

Already updated Xbox, if that's what you're thinking. Also, I'm in Mexico, so, not sure if that has something to do with this bug. But no, cross-play is still not available for us...

 

No, settings in Xbox are not there, so, I went ahead and did it via browser, following your instructions... But it still doesn't work. We can see each other in Epics friend list, we can invite each other, but we never join.

Xbox is updated to latest version, no settings appear still. I'm in Mexico, not sure if that has something to do with it.

Please help!

Yes we are aware of this. For some reason Microsoft put it out in the November update but it hasn't been implemented on the console itself. Personally I keep checking this at home to see when it is available and will post to all when it is.
