Fortnite / Crossplay between XBOX and PC/Switch with Child account

Hi, if anyone could help me i would be really thankful. My problem is my son has a Microsoft child account and is unable to crossplay in Fortnite with other platforms than xbox. Adult accounts on same xbox work fine with all other platforms, child account
has no restrictions and all possible rights but still it doesnt work.

the epic games support told me it is because of some settings in the adults microsoft account, but as mentioned the child account has no restrictions. I removed the child account from the family,

changed it to a adult account but nothing works - maybe because there is no way to change the birthdate of a child account.

I spent many hours on this problem, if anyone has some advice it would be really nice.

was able to look into this for matter into further detail and the conclusion that I arrived to was that at this time child accounts can not play cross platform on the game Fortnite. We are currently working on resolving the issue so that this matter can be

Hi, this response has really helped me because I have been researching this for ages now, so thank you. Just a quick follow up question, is there any point in me trying to change my child's account in anyway, such as changing birthdate to try and make
it an adult account, or removing him from the family. Or should I just wait until you guys have come up with a solution. Also if a solution is found where will be the best place to find it? Thanks!

Thanks for the reply, I am so happy that my response was able to assist you. In regards to changing your child's account into an adult account to try and fix the issue my best advice would be to patiently wait for any further information or news that may
pop up. I know it can definitely be a frustrating issue for you and your child not being able to play with friends and family members via cross platform, but please do know that we are working on resolving this issue for everyone. Thanks for posting a reply

Should child accounts be able to play with PC players, was it done on purpose or is it a bug/glitch. I think it would be good for child accounts to be able to play with PC players via a setting in the child accounts settings.

 

You should also bare in mind that crossplay between Xbox and PS4 is still in beta therefore issues will arise.

 

Yeah I am aware of that, I am only having issues with playing PC with Xbox One child account.

 

The first thing i tried was to change the child account into an adult account and to remove it from the fanily, but this doesnt work. Changing the birth date in child accounts is not possible, dont know why.

Thanks for reaching out and keeping us updated! So, the account is a child account trying to play
cross platform from an Xbox to PC but it was not allowing cross platform? Well, to answer your questions about changing the age, once the account is create it will only recognize the original birthdate. Changing the birthdate on the Microsoft account can actually
cause issues with the Xbox Profile. It will have a mix-matched birthday.

It is possible to
submit proof of age by filling out the
Age verification Request.
After submitting this form, you’ll receive confirmation and follow-up emails. Instructions on how you can monitor the status of your request will be included. Please do not submit
multiple requests. You can expect an email response within 3 days.

The cross-platform restriction was by design because we wanted to keep our younger users safe. Our engineers
are currently working on making it possible to allow cross-play through the parental settings, but it is taking them some time to work out the kinks. They want to make sure there are no issues once they roll out the changes. The rough estimate to expect this
change is around November this year. We will be here to keep you all posted!

While I appreciate there is already an ETA, I struggle understanding the "logic" behind this. So, it's ok to play with all the other players, older and unknown, as long as they're playing in an Xbox... But God help kids play with their friends on PC or Nintendo
Switch, or even their PARENTS on mobile... Because, yes, dangerous people are only on cross-play... I'd appreciate Microsoft saying it was s mistake rather than you saying this was meant to be for our protection... Because it makes me feel like you want to
fool us.

 

Does that mean it is now possible to "correct" the birthdate on a Xbox Gamertag? Or is that "only" the Microsoft Account birthdate change, that does not alter the Gamertag birthdate?

This only changes Microsoft Account's birthdate and it did not affect Xbox Gamertag's birthdate.

Quick question and it could be one that was already done. I know the age thing is being looked into, but did you also check the settings within Fortnite to make sure the option was selected to allow for Cross-Platform play?
