Forced to buy xbox live gold even though single player

fallout 76 single player won't start because screen locks me into buying xbox live gold even though I don't want or have asked to purchase mulitlplayer

I wish it was free. But it's not. PC and PS3 is free though but i choose to stay with Xbox because some of my family members play it and i like the service better. It's not like Microsoft is forcing you to pay for the Xbox live gold. Heck they didn't even
force you to buy the console it was your choice.

I want to buy battlefield1 but Does it need xbox live gold to play? in other forums someone say it only needs live gold for multiplayer not single player . Is it real? Please answer

Game CD box blurb clearly states: Xbox Single Player and Xbox Live Multiplayer

 

Fallout 76 requires online subscription and xbox live. It has no single player campaign it is always online

Thanks for reaching out to us with this issue. The game Fallout 76 that was recently released does require an active Xbox Live Gold subscription in order to play, as listed in the Microsoft store and stated on the game page for it as well, as Randy, Njal
and Wishcatcher previously stated. The game is for solo or multiplayer use but it is not listed as a game that can be played in an offline setting, which would mean that you are required to have the Xbox Live Gold subscription enabled for game play.

Seeing a lot of posts about this. As others have said, while you can play solo, the game requires a subscription as it is an "always on" online world. You as the player choose if you want to play the game by yourself or interact with others in the world.

Looks like you have received the correct answer here multiple times. I can confirm that everyone here is correct. Xbox live is required as stated on the box and

the online store "Game requires Xbox Live Gold to play on Xbox (subscription sold separately)." Think of a game like Destiny. That game is always online. However, you can play the story by yourself without a squad but a live subscription is required. same
thing on Fallout 76.
