Discus and support Force 5ghz connection within XGS app in XboX Insiders to solve the problem; I have google wifi and there's no way to choose the 5ghz.     I have google wifi and there's no way to choose the 5ghz. However, I use an app called 'wifi band' that always tries to connect to 5ghz if available. Knowing that this can be done from within an app, I feel this should be available within the game streaming app itself. Eirher as a little checkbox that always tries to connect to 5ghz in the settings, or by always trying to connect to 5ghz by default as its unusable on 2.4ghz.

    The new xbox 360 slim does not support 5Ghz connections, but the older xboxes with a network adapter will support a 5Ghz connection.

    If you decide to buy a dual band router, remember that only the older xboxes can connect to a 5Ghz network.

    I have a Netgear N600 dual band router with two xbox slims connected. The slims both work of the 2.4Ghz connection, the only thing I had to enable within the router was Upnp (Universal Plug and Play) setting. Both xboxes connect without issue, and I experince
    no lag when both are online at the same time.

    You cannot force the console to use only 5Ghz. But what you could do - if possible by your router - is to setup different names and passwords for the 2.4Ghz and the 5Ghz connection. Then, setup only the 5Ghz connection on the console. It will only connect to it then.

    If your router doesn't support this, then the only other option would be to disable the 2.4Ghz network.

    Correct the slim cannot connect with the inbuilt adapter at 5Ghz, only the external twin antenna can connect at 5Ghz
