The first thing I'd recommend trying is a full power cycle of your system. If you press the Xbox button on the console for 10 seconds until the system powers down, and then unplug it for about a minute, then plug it back in, power it up and try again.

I am refering to windows10 not xbox one or xbox 360. It is an officially licensed xbox360 fightstick and is listed as supported by windows10 in the list I provided in my OP.

It was working fine until recently. It still works fine on my 360 but now when i plug it into my PC only the down direction is registered. Nothing happens when I push up, left or right so as you can imagine for games like streetfighter and killer instinct, it
renders these games unplayable.

I spent a lot of money on KI for windows 10, I also have lots of fighting games on steam that I can no longer play including another copy of KI i recently purchased. The stick cost me £120 and there's nothing wrong with it.

It's a windows problem not recognising 3 of the switches inside the joystick.

It still works perfectly if I plug it into my console.

I just can't play any fighting games anymore and I have probably £700 worth of games I used this stick for.

Microsoft updated something and I need help undoing that.

I understand and have already had the same problem with my Windows Store account on Windows 10.
Remembering that the steps described here are to be performed in Windows 10, and that you must "Always have a Backup" of your data in a safe place before making any changes or configurations in your Windows.

That said, let's go to the steps I performed in my case, which solved my access problem were the following steps:
01. I updated Windows 10 to the latest version using the Windows update tool available here:
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

02. I changed my password after the Windows10 updates are complete.

I can now no longer access the Microsoft Store on my Xbox.

Unfortunately you can't remove the items from their console but you can make it so that they can no longer access them.

If you no longer have access to the Xbox One console where you saved your Microsoft account, you won't be able to remove the account remotely. However, you can change your password, which will disable access to your Microsoft
account on the console to which you no longer have access. Here's how:

1. Sign in to your Microsoft account online.
   
2. Select Security & privacy.
   
3. Select Change password and then follow the steps.
