FlightSimulator.exe stopped working cant get pass "Press any key..." screen

A friend of mine has bought the game on steam and we share our libraries so i tried to to lauch the new fligth sim, borrowed from his library.

when you first start the software it asks you to sign into your microsoft account, so i did that.

After that the windows gave me a pop-up that says "FlightSimulator.exe has stopped working". No matter what i try its allways the same. and from waht i've seen that means i cannot even install the game properly.

-GPU drivers are updated

-Windows is updated

-disable MSI afterburner did not help

-disable HWinfo64 did not help

-disable any other monitoring software did not help

-disable SLI did not help

-everything else runs just fine

after a number of tries i decided that im gonna buy it myself (via steam). so i did that, but the software still crashes at the same point and my microsoft account does not confirm that i own Flightsim 2020 so that may be the issue. s owaht tha tmeans is
i paid 134CHF for a software i apperntly do not own. aslo i have no idea how to link my steam account ot my microsoft account.

i am having same problem tried unistall bunch of times and i tried installing in diferent drive, same BS

Hi,

What are you system specs please?

Are you running the latest version of Windows 10?

As you bought the game via Steam, your purchase will show only via Steam. MSFS 2020 will not show as owned on the Microsoft Store or against your account because you didn't buy it directly from MS. This NOT the reason why your game isn't working though.

if you're having the exact same issue as i had, make sure your windows is running on version 2004 and check it manually.

im very certain that im allways doing windows updates but sometimes its a bit stupid and somehow fails to complete them.

thats what caused my specific issue. if you're still having issues i'd recommend you'd seek further advise from this steam post. thats what i would have done if this did not solve my issue.

okay so we're already one step closer to a solution then, thanks.

still kinda weird that a microsoft producrt will not show up in your microsoft account but whatever.

i already said that windows is updated.

im running on:

AMD ryzen 1800X

32GB G.skill ram at 3200MHz

2x Nvidia Geforce 1080ti SLI

Samsung 970 EVO 500GB (boot drive)

seagate 8TB (storage drive, games, photos, videos etc)

CPU and GPU's are custom watercooled and the temps are perfectly fine so that should not matter

do i need some sort of xbox software that would be preinstalled with windows?

I remember uninstalling everything related to Xbox since i do not own a Xbox.

Has this problem been solved? I also get a crash after the "press any key" message. It just freezes and i get a message that says flightsimulator.exe has stopped working.
