Flight simulator 2020 black startup screen problem

Hi!

Anyone else having trouble with a black screen at game launch?

I downloaded and played the game (premium deluxe version) for at few hours earlier today, and when I started the game again in the evening this black screen appeared after launcing the game. All i can see is the mouse cursour only
when i move the mouse...

I have tried to restart my computer several times, adding the game files in the accepted files thru the firewall, turning of the firewall, verifying game files on steam.

The last thing I did now was uninstalling the game, and install it on steam agan. Then when I launched the game i was sent straight to the black screen again... Even before the screen with content manager download has appeared.

In desperate need of help here. Any tips?

Thats a very good question to be honest and not something ive personally come across before.

I found a post here that has a few suggestions that seemed to have resolved this issue for some others.

I was able to download the 90GB of data in one go without any issue. However now I am unable to restart the program. All I get is the black screen with the swirl in the bottom right hand corner. Nothing happens after that. No disk or network activity and
only 7% CPU.

Anyone know how to overcome this?

There is a fix mentioned on the
game forums (requires account) by changing the audio output/playback device of Windows, worked for me.

Went through the re-install thing, several calls to tech support, three different case numbers and escalation to a higher support area....

Then grandson came over and had it fixed in two minutes, his solution was to download and install an xbox beta app, then run Flight Simulator through that program. Started the Simulator again, it went through the opening screens then started the 95 gig download
that updates everything. Working great, feel free to spread the word as we can't get through to xbox support to pass this solution on to them.

Thank you. This worked for me but only after I switched off Windows Defender/Firewall as well.
