    Hi Everyone - Just in case anyone is running into the same error - I recently had trouble with this error where I was trying to use a Samsung T7 SSD for media captures on my Xbox Series S. Basically I had previously used this drive as Win boot drive on my Mac. Despite reformatting it on the Mac and then formatting it again on the PC to NTFS it would still throw the 0x80bd003c error when selecting it as the capture point on the Xbox. The way I solved it was based on the suggestion by DaniloCastro at the very end of this thread about the same error:

    I googled up this video by MikesUnboxing: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_eW1tVhhBYI on "Remove Or Delete EFi Or erase Problem System Partitions On USB PCIE SSD Or HDD". Followed the instructions to clean the disk. One step missing was simply re-initializing the disk before creating a new simple volume and whola - selecting the drive as capture point no longer threw the error and successfully capturing media on the drive. Sweet.

    For reference:

    Open command prompt as adminstrator

    Start "Diskpart"

    "List Disk" - check which is your disk (be careful! - wrong disk and you will delete data!!!!! be Warned!!!!!)

    "Select [Your disk] i.e. Disk 1"

    "Clean"

    then open Disk Management - intialize the disk - right click and select "New Simple Volume" and you are away.

    Could installing Games to SSD really work?

    There is an improvement when using SSD drives especially in games where the load times are already long (GTA5, The Witcher 3 etc). If I were buying an external drive, I would go SSD over a normal external hard drive not just for this generation but to ensure
    it lasts well into the next gen. There are loads of tests carried out by external organisations like Digital Foundry that show benefits of SSD drives.

    With installed games, you would still need the disc if it was a physical purchase or the account you used to purchase the game to play whatever was on the SSD.

    i don't know what the issue is, i want to use my external ssd to install games on

    but it says the drive is too slow to even save video capture on it

    i do not know why as the drive is as fast as the ssd drives seagate sells as official drives.
