Fixed 0x800704c6 not connecting / downloading error for Halo MCC and others

Hi,

So after Halo 3 update my Halo stopped working and I noticed some other games wouldn't download - they would error saying could not connect and give code 0x800704c6

Oddly enough others seemd to download and install fine.

I tried every solution I could find, wsreset.exe didn't seem to do anything, powershell stuff, reinstalls of xbox game pass etc, accessing WindowsApps folder, clean boots (or what Ithought was), checked router firmware, etc.

I didn't want to reinstall/repair windows 10 to solve it, if I could help it.

In case this may help others here was my fix:

Realised I had a windows update that wasn't installing properly but I wasn't getting a notification. So I had to manually run Windows Update (just type update in start/search bar).

Had to uninstall my antivirus (was Avira, now changed) to ensure a clean boot (I couldn't disable it via msconfig, reinstalled different antivirus after).

Ran a series of powershell commands from solution 2 here: https://www.minitool.com/news/xbox-game-pass-not-working.html

Step 1: Type Powershell in the search box of Windows 10 and choose the best-matched one.

Step 2: Right-click it to choose Run as administrator to continue.

Step 3: In the popup window, copy and paste the following codes and hit
Enter to continue.

Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers |Where-Object {$_.InstallLocation -like "*SystemApps*"} | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}

Get-AppXPackage | % {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDe\velopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml" -verbose}

Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}

So:

• Windows update (wait to download and install)
• Disable antivirus (may need uninstalling for clean boot)
• Clean boot (type msconfig into start, run system configuration app, go to services, hide all Microsoft services, disable all others)
• Solution 2 on this page though I have no idea if this helped, it seemed to work but also triggered a lot of red error messages about not being able
  to deploy due to files being in use(?)

Anyway I spent hours searching and trying methods and swore I would put up my fix for others if I found one.
