Fix the entire gamertag system already

In March of 2018 I talked to a support agent about getting a gamertag from an inactive account (of course they ‘can’t do anything’) but I was told by the support agent that when the gamertag was eventually cleared up and made available, they would “be
sure to notify me through the email linked to my xbox live account” so i just brushed it off and believed what i was told. email never arrived, fast forward over an entire YEAR from where i started, the gamertag is on a new account, inactive and being hoarded
by somebody trying to sell it, which i’m positive is against xbox and microsofts terms of service. never wanted to change platforms as much as i do right now.

Even though they maybe showing inactive on Xbox, does not necessarily mean that the account is inactive. The system they set up where by any account that isn't accessed during a 5 year period gets reset is a fair system. Also with the new style gamertag
with the codex at the end, there should be no issue having a gamertag that you want and can relate to.

I do not know if a gamertag is lost due to inactivity, but remember that with the new system 2 people can have the same gamertag so I recommend you use it and change to the name of your preference, the first change is free.

As you know a new gamertag system is being implemented, so you'll probably be able to have a similar gamertag to the one you want.

The next time gamertags are being reset isn't until 2021. After that they will recycle naturally.
