First time user confused by Free Witcher 2 download process.

Hello Xbox Forums.

Just set up our new Xbox One.

Would like to get a copy of The Witcher 2 while it is free.

From inside the Xbox One it only shows up as "Bundle" and when clicked reports as not being available.

Here on the Xbox site it shows as a free download but when I click it I am taken to a security screen that wants me to complete a gmail account name to prove who I am.

I have no idea what is going on, this account was made through the Xbox One and there is nothing to do with gmail attached to it.

If any of you with more experience could help me understand what is going on I would really appreciate it.

Does Wycher 3 play like the preview?

I wonder if I pick up witcher 3 if I'll be confused by the story since I've never played witcher 1 or 2.

Since The Witcher 2 is a 360 game, it either has to be purchased through a 360 or xbox.com. Make sure you're signing into the website with the same information as your Xbox account. The security information it's asking for should be tied to your account.
If you are signing in with the correct information, then the gmail account may be a secondary email on your Microsoft account for security purposes. You can try going to
http://account.live.com to see the info attached to your account.

I am now being asked for a lot of personal information - name, phone, address, credit card etc...

Is this normal for a "Free" game?

I am pretty new to all this having come from a situation where you simply put in a game disc and started playing.

Yes, you still have to have billing information on file in order to make even free purchases.

In order to download 360 content from the website, it requires a credit card/Paypal to be on file, but One content doesn't. A few years ago, Microsoft used a points system for purchases, then they switched to currency. But they never updated the website
to use the currency system for 360 content, so it requires another form of payment to be on file.
