Sorry to see any issues playing Adventure mode in Minesweeper! I tested it out myself here, and initially noticed what you did; there are no stairs on the levels after the demo. However, after clicking around a bit at the end of Level 1, my little adventurer
found the exit (after a couple of ? on his head when I clicked around) and I was able to move on to Level 2.

Give this a shot, try to avoid the traps, and let me know how it goes! I'm happy to dig further into this with you if you are still having troubles.
