FFXV save files corrupt

I'm pasting the solution here because for some reason all of the other threads are locked without a solution.

This is the answer and solution.

Reason this is a problem: If FFXV has any issue reading ANY of the save files or configuration settings, it just says, I bet the player is hacking and I'll just disable everything. It is the most insane customer unfriendly approach I can imagine. This
is a Square Enix issue. Not Microsoft, not Steam, not any cloud service.

Solution:

1) Disable your internet

2) Copy your %localappdata%\Packages\39EA002F.FINALFANTASYXVforPC_n746a19ndrrjg\SystemAppData\wgs folder to a backup, like C:\users\{username}wgs

In that directory there will be a bunch of folders with weird names. Some of the folders have a file ~3 MB. That is a save file. if you have this issue, then at least one of those will be corrupt.

3) Delete the original wgs folder

4) Start a new game, skip to hammerhead when you have control of your character.

Yes, pushing that car over and over again....

5 ) Get to hammerhead and SAVE

6) Select LOAD, make sure you see the entries for autosave and the manual save you just made. Exit the menu

7) Alt Tab out of the game

6) Look at your new %localappdata%\Packages\39EA002F.FINALFANTASYXVforPC_n746a19ndrrjg\SystemAppData\wgs folder

7) Find a 3 MB save file in those folders. It should have a container file next to it in the same folder. You will pick one to replace.

8) Copy the name of that save file to notepad or something.

9) Delete the file

10) Copy a save file from the wgs folder backup you made in step 2 to this directory.

11) Rename this save file to the name you copied in step 8

12) Alt Tab back into the game. Open the menu and load. If you picked a corrupt backup file, you will no longer see any load options. You will have to repeat steps 3-11 trying a different save file from the backup. If you see your old save then you are
in business.

13) Load the proper save file. Make sure it loads properly. If it does, then:

14) Copy this new wgs folder. Copy %localappdata%\Packages\39EA002F.FINALFANTASYXVforPC_n746a19ndrrjg\SystemAppData\wgs to backup\wgs.fixed . This is required in case cloud saves screw your local version.

15) Enable your internet

16) You should get a prompt to overwrite the cloud saves with your local saves. if you get this prompt, and you choose to use local saves, then you have finally fixed the issue
