Feature Request: Schedule Download Time for Games and Updates

A schedule to be able to set any Xbox One downloads (apps, games or updates) to only happen during certain times (ie. 00:00 -> 07:30).

For those with bandwidth limitations of data caps, this would mean that downloads will only happen either in non busy or at times when data caps aren't impacted.

This feature has been in Steam for years and I would love to see it on my Xbox too!

Can you schedule a download?

You cannot schedule a download, but you can request a download on the website, and it will download the next time you turn your console on. If you turn your console on during those hours, then it will download then. You can even turn the console back off,
and it will continue to download if you have enabled that feature.

xbox one download control

This is one feature that all consoles need in my opinion. It has nothing to do with data caps but speed available. Just last week I was watching Netflix when it starts to buffer. Strange as I have a 16mbps download, nothing amazing but better than most in my area and perfectly capable of 1080p streaming.

Turns out that both my PS4 And XOne were downloading updates at the same time, which was bogging down my internet.

If the consoles gave me the same scheduling as Steam, which also allows you to limit your download speed, this could have been avoided.

That's not a bad idea Badger.. Prior to posting I did Google it, and did find several threads there.

Hundreds? of people have been posting requests to this effect there since 2014 without a MS response.

I thought I'd try this avenue (and provide a more comprehensive "subject" text for the next person in my situation, searching for a solution)

Got a SmartGlass app update today, but no power on feature. Apparently Microsoft is on a "rolling out" type of schedule with this awesome new feature.

you cant, you would need to create your child there own account and add this to your family then you can use all the parental controls under the sun. this would also mean giving them a new gamertag too.
