Since the game was purchased on your account, you will be needing to sign in every time they wanted to play the game since the game license is under yours.

As a workaround, if the purchase was made within 14 days you can try to request a refund via https://xbox.com/refunds.

Athe MacOs version is also ancient and wouldn't be supported connecting to modern versions

Although you need a Microsoft account to purchase Minecraft (Java) it is not linked to a Microsoft Family account.

Minecraft Java version only gives you a single user license. As it's not purchased through the Microsoft store, you will not see it in your purchase history.

You are getting this confused for the Bedrock edition, which isn't available for the Mac. If this is the case, I would recommend requesting a refund. The version you have will only be playable through your account.

You can share games with your family but you need to set one xbox as your home xbox in order to let him play minecraft
