Family accounts/permissions and xbox

I just purchased an xbox one for my son. He set it up, using his log in to our family account. Now, the xbox is rendered useless. He is not allowed to play any games with his friends. When we get to the screen where it asks for parental permission, I
log in and nothing changes. I can't access settings as I then get an error message that I'm already signed in. Thanks, Captain Obvious!

I log into Microsoft account online and see two xboxes attached to our account, with different serial numbers, so **** is that? I removed all restrictions from my son's account, yet that did not translate to the xbox. I already disliked microsoft as their
family activity monitor is a freaking joke. It told me my kid was on discord for 92 hours in a single day. He has one machine, so the top time is 24 hours, no?

But here we are, stuck in Stay at Home and my kid can't play minecraft with his friends because Microsoft sucks so hard. (seriously, google Microsoft sucks. I got over 5 million responses)

T o distill, I think I need to delete our entire microsoft account and try a new one, only I fear our email address will be cached in Microsoft system and we will be in this same loop of idiocy. Any advice?

It might be that your account is locked under family settings. If your account is under a Xbox family account, ask the owner of the account to give you permissions or remove you as a child.

Hello JREYES94! As Mister Darcy verified, your account will not be removed from the Gold Family pack subscription for promoting to adult. You will still be a family member, you will just have added permissions! Make sure to check those permissions though,
as the parent of the family pack will still be able to add permissions to the account in question!

Try this.

This could be due to the account being a child account,

you'll more than likely need to log in your account and alter your son's permissions and privileges under family settings. if this account isn't in a family you can do it through the account you're trying to get online with.

all you need to do if it is under a family is,

Go into settings, Account, family settings, Manage family members, click the account and change the permissions

If the account is not under family.

Go into settings, account, Privacy and online safety then under Xbox live privacy check, all the right permissions are ticked.

Sounds like your account is part of a family group and it has been blocked by an adult of this group. You will need to ask their permission.

Permissions can easily be changed using the new Xbox family app.
