False charging my card when I redeemed a code?

I recommend contacting Xbox Support. They will be able to help you resolve this issue.

I'm having a little bit of difficult time understanding the issue. Are you are saying you redeemed an Xbox Live 12 month pre-paid code and Microsoft charged your debit card instead?

Not sure how that is possible as you enter a code separately. If the code is not good or has already been used it is possible that it switched to the card that was on your account.

I clicked on the promotional offer on my dashboard. When I was prompted to then provide my payment method, I was given the option of redeeming my pre-paid code or having it charged to my card.

Thank you for posting here on the Xbox forums. What error message do you get when you try to redeem the code? Is this a gold card or a currency card? Keep in mind that the gold card will not work if you have a past due gold sub charge on your account.

Also, try redeeming the code from both the website, and the console. Make sure you log into the correct account before redeeming the code :

It does say that the gift code is redeemed, but on the console itself it still says the last time it was "extended" was 2 years ago.

double check to see when the subscription ends.

when I've used a code to extend my Gold/Game Pass/Ultimate Game Pass it hasn't changed the date for when it was last extended as that date is for when a charge was last made against a credit/debit card.

if you redeemed the code and it all went through, all you would see is the expiry/next charge date change to reflect the extended time.
