Failing offline update during veryfying stage

My nephew turned his xbox off while it was updating, all it will bring up is the safestart screen, giving me the options to factory reset or offline update. After trying both hard and soft reset, i am now trying to a offline update. It downloads the file
from the usb stick, but when on veryfying will crash between 8-12%, what could i do to fix this please?

I will try re-downloading when home thank you, if it fails, what do you mean by a hard drive repair? A new hard drive? Or to remove and format hard drive direct from a pc? Thank you,

I'm referring to the hard drive in the console. With any hard drive, removing power during a read or write process can damage them very easily.

Your Xbox will need to be sent away for the hard drive to be replaced.

I would try re-formatting the USB stick and downloading the offline update again. It could have got corrupted.

(remember to safely remove the USB stick from your PC)

If this fails again, then I would suggest that turning of the Xbox during the update has damaged the hard disk drive and will need repairing.

Did they install offline but then fail during update? If it keeps failing when you're online it could be something with your network. Perhaps uninstall the games, go offline install, then try rebooting your router, and/or using network rather than wireless
for the updates.
