Factory reset deleted my games

Recently I have been running into the problem where none of my games load. I’ll launch them, they sit on title screen for a minute or so. After that they close out and say took too long to load. Never had the problem before. Changed to three different internet sources. Same thing continued to happen. Saw similar problems from others in past. Did everything recommended before the factory reset. Nothing worked. So I think did factory reset while keeping my games and apps. I thought my problem would finally be fixed. Got all the stuff set up again. Went to check my games. Over half of my games were deleted. I had 65 games installed. Now only showing 28. It will take forever to reinstall these 70gb or more games. If I do the hard restart should those games show back up?

Thank you so much for the update and yes, that will be the best option but first, try to move a game from an External hard drive to Internal storage to check if the same issue will occur, if not, reformatting the drive will be the best option as it can be corrupted.

The games are on an external hard drive, but they were working before the recent update that came out for the Xbox itself. They are currently showing all of my games again. The only problem now is the games will not load and say they took too long to start. Which update for the system didn’t automatically go through like normal. Took a while to finally recognize there was an update. Then I updated it and the problem stayed, but before the update all games worked perfectly fine. I’m not sure if that may have had something to do with it as well. Would trying to delete and reinstall all games work?

Hi, I hope you're doing great out there despite the issue that you're experiencing. I am an Independent advisor and I am here to help you in regards to your concern.

Are these games stored on your External hard drive? If yes, there is a big chance that it's corrupted which causes the issue.

You can try to perform a powercycle on your console but it's not guaranteed that you'll be able to get your games back up.

POWERCYCLE CONSOLE

1. Turn off your console by holding the Xbox button on the front of the console for approximately 10 seconds. The console will turn off.

2. Turn your console back on by pressing the Xbox button on the console or the Xbox button on your controller.

Hey you can do a factory reset without deleting your games.
