Fable 3 on PC

So I recently got the urge to get back into Fable 3 on PC, as I loved it in the past. I bought the game and all associated DLC back when it was on sale on Steam and I installed it through that again.

At first when launching the game it used showed a blackscreen and refused to start. After looking around it came to my attention that this is because the Games for Windows Live client the game comes installed with doesn't work anymore and thus I had to manually
uninstall and install another version that works to get the game to launch at all.

After that I played through the game for a few hours before I realized that I should have gotten access to some of the minor DLC by now, like the dog potions and other cosmetic packs. Checking varios forums this was correct so I go to the LIVE room in the
game, access the games for windows live marketplace and it confirms that my DLC is bought and validated on the servers. But when I try to download it all i get is an error message:

"The games for Windows - LIVE client failed to launch. If you ignore this issue, you will be able to keep playing your game but will be unable to manage or download any marketplace content. If you choose to troubleshoot, your game may minimize or your session
may end"

And pressing troubleshoot just minimizes the with nothing happening after that.

I just want to be able to play a game I like with the content I bought so I would love some assistance with this issue.
