    Fable 3 Issue not connecting to GFWL to validate the CD Key due to the service being Offline


    Good Afternoon

    Ive been informed and instructed by UK Support Team to contact this forum with my Issue.

    My store Bought copy of fable 3 still tries to connect to GWFL to install and validate files which it never completes due to the service being removed, I now have a unplayable Copy of Fable 3 and require help with a resolution.

    GfWL login when Launching Fable 3

    Hi,

    I just get a blank screen with the fable cursor when I launch Fable 3.

    It does not show the GFWL login screen.

    I have tried the following fixes from forums:

    3# Can’t log into Game For Windows Live (GFWL) Marketplace

    This issue can be due to a number of reasons. You can try following solutions to fix the problem so that you can download the DLC.

    • Try running the client as administrator
    • Uninstall GFWL and then re-install it.
    • Uninstall the kb977377 update from windows.
    • You can also try installing windows live sign in assistant to solve the issue.

    10# Fable 3 Doesn’t Start/Black Screen

    The issue can be solved by re-installing/repairing GFWL from the control panel. If you haven’t tried it yet, first login Window Live Marketplace and then try running the game. If you are facing black screen on launch, then you should try changing the
    resolution by switching to windowed mode first.

    So I have reinstalled Fable 3, and GFWL, and removed registry information concerning both before reattempting to install.

    I can obviously login to the xbox marketplace via the website.

    I have tried to login here first and lauch fable, but this does not work as I seem to also have a CD Key issue:

    Uh oh... that shouldn't have happened.

    Client is running as Admin, do not have the kb977377 update, have use wllogin32.msi (repair)

    have tried in various compatibility and windowed modes.

    Please assist, I cannot find a solution.

    Fable 3 on windows 10

    I'm not sure if this is a windows 10 issue or not. Since GFWL was fixed i reinstalled my copy of Fable 3 and the DLC's. The problem is that i am unable to get it to verify the release date. I get the message that GFWL was not able to connect to the service
    please check your internet connection. I don't have an issue with my connection. I have to sign in to the GFWL service to download and install my DLC's. So i just need to know how to get it to verify so i can play again.

    Can't Activate Games For Windows Live Key Error Code 0x80151906 2025

    Hi RainingRoses,

    You are incorrect on this. The GFWL Marketplace was retired in 2013 not Key Activations to connect to LIVE. The keys that were obtained through the GFWL MP, CD Keys and Steam have always still worked beyond that. This issue also occurred in 2020 which microsoft promptly fixed.

    The keys need to be able to be activated to be able to sign into LIVE on GFWL Games and we need microsoft to investigate and fix this issue so that we can continue to play our purchased games

    Fable 3 on windows 10

    I'm having the same issue, ever since they cancelled GFWL i can't get Fable 3 to verify, though any titles i own on steam that require GFWL seem to have to trouble launching or verifying, and no Fable 3 is not one of those titles. i hope microsoft sees this
    and can get this sorted out or come up with a solution soon cause as it stands i see it as i wasted money on a game that i can no longer play due to third party software that is required but is no longer in service.

    The code to redeem a game on Steam and activate it on GFWL will actually be different. To view the proper CD Key that you will need to activate the game on GFWL, in the Steam client, go to: Library> Locate the game> Right-click on the game and choose View
    CD Key. From there you should be able to copy the key to the clipboard and then paste it in to the proper area when the GFWL client requests it. Let us know if that helps. Thanks!

    If you downloaded the game using Games For Windows Live, log into Games For Windows Live and next to Play there should be an option for CD Key.

    If you downloaded the game after the GFWL Marketplace was closed, unfortunately a CD-Key is not given with it as they do not want any new players to start with the servers being closed on July 1st, 2014
