Should every reviewer and article writer on a site like IGN share the same opinion of a game for consistency or should they all be allowed to hold their own views on that title?

It would make sense to give the task of reviewing a FPS game to a fan of the genre, as they'll be the ones who are likely to like or dislike what the fans think but someone tasked with writing articles who perhaps isn't an FPS fan would put up a counter
position to the things in the review.

Perhaps combining the two a little would keep people happy. Have the main review written as normal but have a boxout on the page which holds a counter position.

The problem is that it is practically impossible to have an unbiased review of something.

I'm not a fan of the FPS genre as a whole. So my marks for an FPS game, no matter how innovative, would not be as high as someone who was a fan.

As I said it also makes sense to give a review to someone who enjoys those games as the fans of the genre would be more likely to read something written by a fellow fan, which has the side note that the review is more likely to be positive.

With Syndicate perhaps some of the dislike for the game is coming from its shift from an isometric RTS style title to another first person shooter.

Back to the question of whether I think every Call of Duty is an innovative masterpiece? Well the answer would be no but then again as I said I don't like the FPS genre as a whole.

Whilst I don't agree with them releasing a broken product, giving a free game to people who bought the season pass before they took it down is an extremely nice gesture and something not many publishers would do.

Yes, but many people have abused the user reviews on Metacritic - as a result, I've never trusted fan reviews. I'd rather go with the critics who are more likely to give an objective review.
