External SSD stopped working

Hello. My external ssd which I used to use on my xbox series s stopped working randomly. (To clear any doubts it is not the Seagate Storage Expension Card, it is a regular Verbatim external ssd)

If this is useful, i got this ssd in september 2024, so it is new

This is happening for the last week or so with me, I tried:

Power cycling my xbox but nothing happened

Tried unplugging for a day and reconecting it (which worked once, but never after)

Tried connecting on my pc and it wouldn't show up on file manager

It actually showed up in disk manager in windows, but it doesnt show any partitions or even available storage

If i right-click it in disk manager (at the box named disk 1), go to properties > volumes, it says that the disk has 0mb of storage

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Xbox Community. I'm sorry to hear that you're having issues with your external Verbatim SSD. I understand that you've tried some troubleshooting steps but none of them worked on your situation.

Since you've tried the disk on both of your Xbox and PC but the space is not being detected, based on the information that you shared, I am suspecting a faulty drive. Please try these steps on your Windows PC and see if you can format your drive through command prompt. Please note that this will delete all the data from your external SSD:

Type "diskpart" and press Enter.

Type "list disk" and press Enter.

Type "select disk [Your Verbatim SSD]" and press Enter.

Type "clean" and press Enter.

Type "create partition primary" and press Enter.

Type "format fs=ntfs" and press Enter.

Type "exit" and press Enter.

If you've done all the possible troubleshooting steps but you're still having issues with the drive, I would recommend that you contact Verbatim support directly. Since you have it for less than a year, it's still covered by warranty. Please use this link:

I just checked Killer Instinct (with some DLC) on the external ssd and it worked without problems so...

the problem seems to be linked to external(?) ssds and Rise of the Tomb Raider DLCs.

It sounds like maybe the memory that is holding the games might have an issue or have stopped working. Are you using an external device (external HDD or SSD for example)? If so, check the device. It might have a loose connection and come unplugged, or
it might not be working anymore. This could easily explain why all of your games suddenly are no longer there.
