External Speakers turn off like TV/Cable Box?

When I say 'xbox turn off' my tv/cable box turns off but the external speakers stay on. Is that just how it is or am I missing something?

Speaker/TV Infrared commands conflict?

I can configure my console to turn my speakers and TV on/off via IR when the console turns on/off. This works for each device in isolation but not together:

1. Console configured to turn on/off just speakers: speakers turned on/off
2. Console configured to turn on/off just tv: tv turned on/off
3. Console configured to turn on/off both speakers and tv: only tv turned on/off
   

I've tried adjusting the placement of the Kinect/speakers and even pointed an IR extension directly at the speakers, all with the same outcome. Other commands such as volume up/down/mute work perfectly. Is it possible that the tv/speaker power commands
are being sent too close together and conflicting?

I wasn't able to set up my soundbar to turn on/off either but mine wasn't on the settings list. Check to see if yours is by manually adding the model number via settings.

 

thanks for the reply, I manually added and it was on the list (Sony). Volume/mute etc all works but I still have to turn off manually.

For troubleshooting, point the Kinect directly at the receiver/soundbar and turn the Xbox On or off. Otherwise, you may want to manually select a model that is close if has not been added.

Thanks, have a sony and now recently a tab appeared where I can check it to "turn off" with the xbox. It worked.
