First question is If my Mechanical External Hard Drive ( For my XBOX Series X) fail after few years can i re- download the digital games that i owned and bought from Microsoft Store to a new replacement Mechanical Hard drive?

Second Question is Is it possible to back up my Mechanical External Hard drive ( for Xbox) because this is the only way i think to Safeguarding my investment

because i am still have lacking knowledge in gaming world, like in my photography i have an external hard drive that i use everyday and another one as back up i copy all my photos in that second hard drive so i dont have to worry in case the primary external hard drive fail.

    :)

I thank you so much for a quick response. I think the best way if i am going to make a backup of my Owned Digital Games is Re-download them from Microsoft Store into a New Empty USB HDD. Because when i tried turning on my Series X and disconnected the external USB HDD prior, the games that are supposed to be in my External USB HDD are now under ready to install

    list.

As to the second question, not sure if you can backup game data from an external drive plugged into a console.
Just for your own reference. You can both copy and move games. Quite useful if say you own two consoles and want to copy or move content between these two machines without using a network transfer.

My uncertainty was more in having games saved on an external drive and then being able to copy them to another external drive...though I guess if you plug more than one into the Series X (which I assume you can do given it has multiple USB ports), then you could just then transfer between them presumably

My Series X has four drives. The internal SSD, a 1TB expansion card, a 2TB SATA SSD (in a USB enclosure) and a 2TB HDD.

Thank you very very much, now i have peace of mind. I am not an online gamer actually i am a very old man just bought a Series X :) and after 3 months ( given by Gamestop) i might not continue my subscription to Gamepass but will continue buying games in Microsoft Store. I know it's Crazy but the saved game data like tracks i finished or stages i accomplished is not so important to me LoL but i just want to have a peace of mind that I will still have the Games i bought in case the External HDD crashes or fails, that's why i was thinking of getting another same size USB HDD drive and re download all my Digital games to the new HDD.
