External hdd space used up when I plugged it into xbox1x?

has anyone came across this with their new Xbox one x? My ext hdd had over 200gb free space on my Xbox one s and when I plugged it into the one x all the space on the ext hdd was completely used up. I deleted some game but I still only have 100gb left. Should
I have formatted my ext before plugging it into the one x?

    :)

I believe you can have up to 16tb of external space on the X1 and 2 external connected at once.

So I believe to get the max external HDD space you need 2 x 8tb external HDD

i have a 5tb external on my One

And on topic, you can have , at most, 2 x 32gb flash drives plugged in at once.

Xbox 360 running out of space on hdd

I am running out of space on my 20gb hdd and was wondering if i can use my external western digital 500gb hdd with my xbox 360? I know that they are a 16gb limit but was wondering if you can partition the 500gb hdd into separate partitions to be used with
the xbox 360 or is it just 16gb total that can be used from a external hdd?

External hard drive coming next month COMFIRMED

If what I saw and heard on the video to the "Major Nelson" link by the OP is correct. You'll have to use up all external HDD space before the 500GB Internal HDD can be used. So, unless I am wrong. Plugging an external HDD, in and out of the Xbone will not
    be an option.

Thoughts of HDD not being replaceable?

The 360 could only use 32gb from an external hdd even if you had 500gb of free space. I'm wondering if we're allowed to hook up an external hdd to the X1 how much space will it be limited to.

    External HDD's

You can use any size external HDD with your Xbox 360 but it will format the HDD and only use 32Gb of the total space of the HDD. When you plug in the HDD you will have two options under the "System Settings" menu under "My Xbox." From there, you need to
select the appropriate configuration option for your drive. One option erases all data on the drive before formatting it. The other option configures only a limited amount of space for Xbox 360 use, leaving any data on the drive untouched.

Do you think Microsoft should allow Xbox One users to Upgrade their Hard-Drives, or offer a service giving users options for them to Upgrade our hard-drives for us?

We already got the Cloud and Microsoft will update the Xbox one to allow us to plug external HDD.

I don't want to use teh "cloud" so what if the cloud crashes I can't access my games or if I'm an avid gamer or use alot of apps and listen to music on my console I will have to pay for more cloud space that is ridiculous!
