    External HDD keeps on disconnecting every-time i switch off / on console


    I use a Sony 1TB external hdd to capture all my game recordings and screenshots but every time I turn on the console there’s a little pop up on the top saying that my HDD was disconnected and I’ve also turned off the option to turn off hdd when I turn my console off.

    Xbox One didnt remember external storage, so games are hidden now.

    It might seem like an obvious question, but is your console switched on when you connect the external HDD?

    If the console is switched on during connection then it will not read the HDD. Make sure the console is off prior to connecting.

    Might sound a little obvious but make sure your console is switched off before connecting an external HDD to either of the rear USB ports.

    I had that problem with mine, wouldn`t recognise the HDD if connected when the console was on.

    The console light would be off, I can tell you that the new update as an option to power off your external hdd if you are on instant on mode when you switch off your xbox

    I have a similar problem: my Xbox One X after starting Forza 7 the first time switched off. After powering on it switches off after about 3 seconds. So no usual hard boot is possible. I disconnected everything, held the power button
    for >10 seconds - no change. Any idea?

    Note: my old Xbox One was in the insider preview ring, I exported the setup today to an external HDD and imported this during the initial setup of the X simply having attached the HDD and answering to use the existing setup.

    Hi!

    If the games were installed on an external HDD, turn off the console and try to disconnect the HDD and reconnect it to a different USB port.

    However, if you cancel a game update (such as due to disconnection from the network), it may happen that it's removed for reinstallation later.

    Have only some been uninstalled?
