  1. External HDD fail

    Hi

I dropped my external hard drive now my xbox one s will not recognise it, i tried different ports hard reset the xbox but no joy. The lights are on the hard drive and it vibrates like its working my laptoo also could only find it but couldnt locate any files
    ?

Would there still be away to transfer the data to an new hard drive without losing it all.

Sorry for the long post but kids are desperate to play and it takes ages to re download them all

    Thanks

    :)

    External HDD fail

You could take it to a computer shop and see if they would be able to recover the data but it doesn't look good in my opinion. I think you might just have to re-download everything with a new external harddrive.

If it reads and there are no files it's now damaged/ corrupted, your best bet would to get a new hdd.
Good advice, I would say its worth moving away from traditional hard disc drives and investing in a solid state drive. A bit pricey, but for speed and for accidental knocks and drops they are better as there are no moving parts like a traditional hard drive.
Just make sure any hard drive you purchase meets the Requirements
(greater than 128gb and USB 3.0 or later)

switch it out for a SSD HDD for ultra fast speed

Try putting on a PC and see if you can format it. If it will then try in on the Xbox.
