    External hdd causing NAT issue

Hi i brought my son a WD elements 2TB external hdd i also use the same one with no problems, my son however has an issue. When he plugs HDD in it puts his Nat type to strict for no reason. The hd is set up and notified as 'ready' by the console as mine
was. He can move games over and play from hdd but NAT type strict. When we unplug hdd nat type is open again.. any ideas? I have had zero issues with mine so no clue why my son is

    :)

Games and apps not loading after starting from rest mode.

Have found the issue. Even though I'm loading from internal HDD it turns out my external is having issues and causing the freeze. When I unplug the external everything runs fine.

Am currently in process of shifting games and will re format external to see if that fixes it. If not it might be time for new external HDD. At least it's not the console!!

  3. xbox one x severe frame drops

Are the games that are having issues on your internal or external hard drive.

Can you see if it could possibly be a faulty HDD that maybe causing the issue.

    External hdd causing NAT issue

Hey there RagMan85 External hdd causing NAT issue :)

I'm sorry to hear about this. What is the drive's model (portable or desktop version)?

I'd get your son's drive and try testing it on a PC if it's functioning properly. Back up everything important from it and then see if it's recognized properly (model and capacity) in BIOS, Device Manager and Disk Management. Here's some info on how to access
    those places:

    Device Manager:
    products.wdc.com/.../kb.ashx

    Disk Management:
    products.wdc.com/.../kb.ashx

If everything is OK there I'd download and run WD Data Lifeguard Diagnostic tool and see if the drive passes both the quick and the extended tests. Have in mind that the second one takes quite long to complete. Here's a link to the tool:
    products.wdc.com/.../kb.ashx

Here's some more info no the NAT type problems:
    support.xbox.com/.../nat-error-solution

Post back with some test results External hdd causing NAT issue :)

I'd contact the console's live support for this. It appears to be a settings issue with the XBox itself since the drive functions properly. External hdd causing NAT issue :)
