    External Hard Drive Xbox Series S


    I keep everything in my living plugged into a power strip that I turn of at the end of each day. Since I have purchased the wd black p10 drive for my series s, whenever I turn on that surge protector the drive is entering what seems like an idle state even with the console off. The drive is spinning but the power indicator light is not on until I actually turn the Xbox on.

    I have all of my power settings set to power saving. What could be causing this drive to activate when the console is off as soon as I turn on my surge protector

    Hi,

    External hard drives are not fast enough for Xbox Series X|S titles. Unfortunately you can't play these games off slow USB external hard drives. They need either be installed internally or to an optional Xbox Series X|S Expansion card.

    It was not a bad previous idea. I do not have an external hard drive for my Xbox one series S.

    Newer games require faster storage bug. Will not let me -download- to external harddisk/ssd

    To transfer games from the internal hard drive to an external hard drive on an Xbox Series S or X, navigate to "My games & apps", select the game you want to transfer, choose "Move or Copy", then select the external drive as the destination and confirm.
