External hard drive sound/stuttering issues

So to clarify your situation, games work just fine when they are loaded on your Xbox One console's internal hard drive, correct? It's when they are running off of your external hard drive that you're running into issues? Does this happen with EVERY game
that you have installed on your external HD or only some?

Yes, internal hard drive works fine. External Game Drive i noticed issues with some Games (Halo MCC, Fallout Shelter, Forza Horizon 2), curiously NOT EVERY game. I cannot spot a pattern because issues have a variable extent. First i thought only Halo MCC
as affected. Then i have short echo effects (stuttering sound) in FH2, but nothing else.

If this is happening with every game, it sounds like the issue is likely with your external hard drive. I would look into reformatting your
Seagate Game Drive back to factory defaults and trying again.

Seagate also told me reformatting this Drive. Unfortunately no other solution process. Think it was an automated standard email -.-

Is there a way to backup my Games before resetting? Because it will take a very long time to download all Games on the external HDD again.

Thank you for your suggestions. I resolved the issue and here is how I did it, in case someone else has the same problem.

Turns out, after moving the game from one external hard drive to another, the stuttering was completely gone. The only possible conclusion is that either the hard drive or the case are the problem (I will test this further).

Which is weird, because I have been playing games from this external hard drive for many months and all the games worked fine. Psychonauts was the first game with issues and also the first game to be completely unplayable.

Sounds like the External might be having an issue. To narrow it down, try unplugging the external drive and redownloading the game to the internal hard drive and see if that helps.

Is the hard drive on and making the usual sounds it does when it loads? Is the Led blinking? Could be a dodgy hard drive. I used to have issues with Seagate hard drives before and from personal experience they are unreliable and poor quality. Do you have
a spare external hard drive lying around? Plug that one in and see if it works. It will rule out whether it is a hard drive issue or an Xbox issue.

It sounds like your console is restarting unexpectedly when the external hard drive is attached and working normally when it's not attached to the console. It's possible there is an issue with the external hard drive.
