External Hard Drive Removing Games After Format

I Bought the Next Gen enhanced version of GTA V and since I wanted room on my internal drive to play it, I went to move some old games onto my External Device, When I was about to do so, I was asked to format my External Hard Drive to be able to move the old games. Once I accepted it and changed the setting, the External Hard Drive was completely wiped and had nothing on it. I thought that it had probably just uninstalled all of the games on it, for some odd reason. So when I went to check all of my owned games and apps to see if the games from the External Hard Drive would be there, there were only the games from my internal hard drive. So, I went and checked and there was absolutely nothing saved from the External Hard Drive and all of my games from it are gone. Plus, there was over a Terabyte of games on that Hard Drive and they are all gone and I have no possible way of getting them back. Since I'm not going to purchase and download all of those games again because that would be a complete waste of money because of some issue that had removed all of the games and progress on them with no way of getting them back. I Would like to know if there is anything that can possibly be done to get all of my games and progress back.

I understand you need help with getting back your games.

Actually, your digital games are synced with your profile and as long as they are purchased on that account, you can still download them back using that account who owns those games.

You do not need to buy them again for as long as you already owned them on that account through purchase.

as per the other comments about the use of the external hard drive for the 360 I am in the update preview program which allows additional External hard drives to be used.I purchased the same Seagate 2tb external hard drive as per my xboxone but when I apply
the format on the xbox360 as per the instructions it replies with unable to format. Would like to know what external hard drives are compatible? I no the hard drive works as tried it on the xboxone after it would not format for the 360

If you remove your external hard drive can you start the game? If so, I think it would be a good idea to move your games to your internal hard drive and format your external hard drive.

Hard Reset your console by PRESSING AND HOLDING the white logo on console for 10 sec, then unplug external hard drive, take the external hard drive and try to format it on the PC. After the format on the PC, plug back into console and see if you can reformat
it on console , so it can be used again for games

Hello Jacob,

Sorry for the issue with your external hard drive. Can you try and connect it to a PC or a different Xbox? Sometimes external hard drives do get corrupt or go bad. If you don't mind you could re-format the hard drive and try to connect it after the re-format.
