    External Hard Drive Power Cycling


    I recently purchased a Western Digital Easy Store 8TB drive new from Best Buy to use with my Xbox One X. While the console is in standby/sleep mode, the external drive is constantly powering on and off. I’ve tried enabling and disabling the option to power
    off the external storage when the console is off, but that didn’t help.

    Before I connected this drive to my Xbox One X, I had it connected to my Xbox One S to transfer games from that system to the new drive, and I noticed the same behavior with that console as well.

    Can anything be done to fix this? If not, is there an 8TB external drive that works properly with the Xbox One I should get instead?

    Games not appearing on external hard drive

    After power cycling my Xbox I can't access any of the games on my external hard drive, the console recognises the external hard drive and knows that it is 68% full but nothing appears on it. None of my games on the internal drive will start either due
    to the 'Taking too long to start' error. I've tried restarting, power cycling and reconnecting the power cable but nothing so far has worked. Disconnecting and reconnecting the external hard drive hasn't worked either. Has anyone had experience with this or
    knows a fix?

    I'm using an external 3tn usb 3.0 that is usb powered.

    Power cycling the Xbox via the power cable temporarily bypasses the issue until it happens again.

    If you have an external hard drive connected via USB disconnected and it performs a power cycle, check for the same error without connecting the external hard drive

    Can you try putting the game on an external Hard drive (USB3.0 and at least 256GB) to see if it's a hard drive issue?

    The thing is I don't have an external hard drive and they cost like 70 bucks. I was just wondering if there was a way to fix it without the external hard drive.
    Can you uninstall it, power cycle as I posted above, install another game (such as a 360 title or any other game), power cycle, and then reinstall Destiny?
