  1. External hard drive malfunction

I have looked through the forums and haven't seen a discussion similar to this, so I apologize in advance...today I went to play a game currently downloaded on my external hard drive. My Xbox is saying that there are no games on the hard drive. I have tried
re booting it and the other simple "trouble shooting" ideas. Is there a way to fix this problem and get downloaded and saved material back?

    :)

    hard drive malfunction

I have the same Limited edition xbox 360, and I have the same problem! Fresh out of the box it was this way, I thought it was meant to be this way, until my friends laughed at how rediculoisly slow xbox was. I then did some research and was told to use a
flash drive instead of a hard drive. I did some reading about why my hard drive is making my xbox slow, and stumbled across this, and sure enough, someone was having the same problem with the exact same xbox/hard drive bundle :/

    External hard drive malfunction

Is your console an Xbox 360 or Xbox One ?

Double check if the external hard drive is actually being detected, sometimes the USB connection might be loose. If the external hard drive is not detected, turn off the console

and then double check the USB connector is firmly plugged in, then turn console back on and see if external hard drive appears.

Also another thing to check... some brands of external hard drive have a power light when turned on. Check if the power light is on.

Can’t sign in to Xbox profile after factory reset

I eventually got in to work with the help of an Xbox expert. My external hard drive was malfunctioning and that was causing the problem.

xbox loses my game list offline

    Hello Tim,

Thanks for coming to the forums. Are you talking the ready to install game list? If so when you go offline, it will not show your digital content that is ready to install. If the game list is on the external Hard drive. Then yes it could be that the external
is malfunctioning. to test this, you can install some games to the internal hard drive, disconnect the external, go offline see if the games stay there.

    Thanks,

    Brad

Xbox external hard drive not working!!

Hi, David! I'm sorry to hear that.

Unfortunately, it seems your external hard drive is indeed malfunctioning or has become corrupted. In this case, I'm afraid my best advice would be to reach out to your external hard drive's manufacturer for specialized assistance or warranty inquiries.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

    Best regards.

XBOX 360: Cant download games, after finishing 79%

    Hi milad,

Thanks for your update. Something you could try is using a USB Storage Drive or External Hard Drive and installing the game to that, if it installs fine the, your hard drive could be damaged or malfunctioning. For more information on using external USB device
for the Xbox 360, check out:

    I hope this helps.
