    External Hard Drive Issues


    I have a My Passport 1TB hard drive that my father gifted me some time ago. I’d almost forgotten about it until I was moving and thought it’d make for a great way to store all my games on. When I plugged it in, it realized it was the external drive and needed
    to be formatted. While I was waiting, it’s load stopped and I figured it was ready. I began to download when it kept on telling me I needed more memory. Even when I chose downloads to go to my TB, they still wouldn’t download without telling me I was out of
    space. I tried it again today by plugging it back in, and now it won’t even get recognized by the xbox one, no matter how many times I try. Do I need a new TB or something? /:

    If you have an external hard drive could you try deleting a game and installing it directly to the console's hard drive to rule out issues with the external drive itself?

    External Hard Drive Issues

    To transfer games to a external HDD, it can only have 1 partition, be USB 3 and over 256Gb.

    You will only be able to use it for GAMES (you will be prompted or need to format it to that special format from the XB).

    Once that has been done you will then be able to move and copy games from the internal drive to the external drive.

    Having the same issues. Could be something to do with the external hard drive maybe, not had time to troubleshoot yet though.

    Some ideas to try maybe?

    1. Make the Xbox One drive the primary drive, while the external drive is still plugged in

    2. Try with the external hard drive unplugged

    No idea if this will make a difference, but this issue only started for me since I got an external drive. Unless others are having the same issue with no external hard drive?

    May I know if an external hard drive is plugged into your console? If yes, have you kept the external hard drive unplugged when performing troubleshooting steps and check if the issue persists without external hard drive?
