    external drive not accepted

I'm trying to have the Xbox app detect my external drive (im on PC) and it says it needs to be formatted as NTFS and when i checked properties on the drive, its formatted as NTFS as default, and i cant change much with it as i have important files on it and reformatting it to turn it back (similar to the turning off and on strategy) or else it will delete it all. can anyone help?

    :)

    Hi Dankestmans,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Xbox Community. I understand that you want to use your hard drive in your Xbox App.

If the app says that it needs to be formatted, it means that the current format that you have is not compatible. I understand that it's already formatted to NTFS. However, there are other factors when formatting a device such as the allocation unit.

What I would recommend is for you to transfer your important files to your internet drive or cloud storage before proceeding in formatting your external drive.

    Regards,

    Alvaro

Will the Xbox One support a Memory Card?

It will accept a flash drive - they've already confirmed the xbox one supports external usb storage devices.

    Issues with installation

I'm gonna be more specific: the game doesn't accept installation on external storage. Whether it's flash drive or external hard drive, the game isn't meant to install on external storage connected through USB just like Need for Speed Rivals on Xbox 360.
You need to install it on an internal hard drive (media hard drive). The link I provided to you aren't external hard drives; they're internal hard drives for the Xbox 360:

PS4 has 2 more arrows in the quiver

The replaceable hard drive is overrated because your game licenses stay on the console-not the hard drive.Plus the one accepts external storage. So you could use your own 1.5 terabyte hard drive.

    Console Hard Drive Question

Know that if you tamper with your Xbox in order to retrofit external storage, you are voiding your console's warranty should you damage it.

With that in mind, small USB thumb drives are certainly an acceptable storage alternative to Xbox branded drives.
