    Expiring Promotional Funds


    I got an e-mail stating that I had funds that would be expiring. I read the date wrong and missed the deadline by one day. They expired on the 25th and I thought that they didn't expire until the end of the month. I reached out to billing for there help
    and a little leniency since I missed it by only a single day. They were unable to help and refereed me here.

    It is my hope that have having and Xbox for 3 generations of the console, buying hundreds if not thousands of dollars of games and hardware, plus being a loyal Xbox live customer for 12+ years would count for something.

    So here I am now reaching out to you for some help. How can I get these funds back or even just applied to the game I intended to purchase this evening?

    Furthermore how can I or anyone else know the difference between my own money in my account and promotional dollars and when they are to expire out side of a seemingly random e-mail.

    Please prove me wrong, as I have reached out to a similar forum for help in the past only to be told; Sorry, can't help. There has to be something that can be done here.

    Sounds good, I will give them a call. How could "funds" expire, though? I understand promotional points expiring but the monetary value that I paid should never expire.

    I'm not sure why they would have expired. The only time I've heard of paid funds expiring is either Microsoft points that had been converted to currency in 2013 were set to expire if they weren't used by June 1, 2015. Or if you had ever received a refund,
    the refund is seen as promotional currency and would have expired.

    Thanks for posting. Unfortunately, once promotional funds expire, we are unable to replace those funds in your account. That is not something we on the forums have the capability to do.

    To avoid this from occurring in the future, please be sure to spend any promotional credit received as soon as possible to prevent funds from expiring.

    To clarify, if you added funds from a gift card it usually doesn't expire. But funds added through promotions or the Microsoft rewards program do expire. Expiration dates would be given in the terms of the offer.

    You can check at http://account.microsoft.com If you buy a prepaid card, there is typically no expiration. Promotional funds usually expired in 90 days.

    Phone/chat support are the only ways to contact the billing department who would be the only ones with the ability to do anything about funds in your account. However, there generally is no way to get funds back after they have expired.

    Got My Money Refunded When I Put SO mUCh work into geting all those points

    Keep in mind that any funds from promotions or the Rewards program has an expiration date. If they were from the Xbox Rewards program, they expire 1 year after deposit. If they were from the Microsoft Rewards program, they expire 90 days after redemption.
