Experiencing serious WiFi lag on Series X

Let me start by saying I have looked through this sub and found nothing that relates to my issue close enough for me to try the solutions given, so please don’t hate me if this post seems like something unnecessary.

When I got my Series X a few days ago, it was fine. I network transferred most of my small games that I play frequently onto my new console from my old One S. I use my externally HDD to transfer the rest of my games that are much bigger so that it would be quicker. Fast forward a few days and I’m experiencing MAJOR lag when on my new Series X. When I’m in a party, people cut out frequently and I struggle to understand them. When I play games, I suffer game-ruining lag which causes me to just leave them game entirely. The worst example is Rocket League. I constantly get the “Latency Variation” and “High Latency” server warnings and all the players, including the ball, get teleported around the field so I can’t even keep track of the game. I hosted a custom game last night with my friend, and I even had severe lag then. Today, to make sure it wasn’t my internet, I plugged my One S back in and joined the same party I had left on my Series X (which was unplugged once I plugged my One S in) and I experienced no lag whatsoever. In the 4-5 years I’ve owned my One S I’ve never had lag this bad, and my WiFi is pretty decent. I’ve restarted my console and my router multiple times but the lag remains. Has anyone got a fix for this, or was it just a mistake to buy a Series X?
