Exchange Xbox live gift card purchased at retailer

You would have to try contacting the retailer you purchased the card from to see if they will exchange it for an Xbox gift card, but there is no other way to change the card.

Grandson purchased $90 Xbox live gift cards thinking they were regular ones. He has subscription to game pass so doesn’t need them. He wanted to buy game stuff. Retailer will not refund or exchange

I'm afraid to say that it is not possible to change an Xbox Live card to an Xbox gift card.

As the retailer is not able to exchange them, I recommend to your grandson to try selling these cards to someone else or online to someone who they trust
