Everything works except Netflix 5028-1980.6001 - It won't get as far as the menu

Hi. My Netflix app will not load on my XboxOne - it shows the logo, but the loading symbol spins for a minute before saying:

"Something went wrong. Netflix has encountered an error. If the app does not work properly, you may need to restart it. 5028-1980.6001"

NAT is open, network connection is all fine, youtube and twitch work, games work etc. Just Netflix with the issue.

I tried rebooting the xbox (energy save mode style).

I tried uninstalling the Netflix app and reinstalling.

No, I don't use UPnP. It is not a good method to open ports as an application could open any port using it.

I have the ports forwarded manually, and it has worked just fine for everything I need to do. Is there a netflix specific port?

I use wireless and it works fine for everything, except Netflix on the Xbox.

I have this error code as well. Nothing will work except for Netflix!

 

Did you try holding the power button on the console for 10 seconds until it shuts off?

 

Isn't that just a way for people using "instant on" to power down properly?

 

Actually holding the power button is the same thing as clearing the cache on the 360 and will fix most easy issues.

 

Ah cool, didn't realised that. Anyway, I tried it and it is still having the issue.

 

You wouldn't perchance be accessing Netflix via Unblock US? I was having the same issue intermittently, but revisiting the site in the XB1's internet browser and clicking update worked for me.

 

Genius. Thanks! I'm using unotelly / unodns and my IP had changed (it's normally static, but it had a one off change), so updating the IP worked immediately. Next time you have a beer, pretend it's from me. Cheers.
