    *Every* Windows store+XGP Game crashes post update


    I hope this is the right place to be posting this. Since this is a beta, I'm not really expecting an answer immediately (or at all tbh), just reporting this as a bug/oversight.

    Just updated to pro version 1903 build 18362.175 as required by the new xbox app (beta XGP). ALL MY DRIVERS ARE UP TO DATE, including Video Drivers. All relevant NAND BIOS's have been flashed to the most recent version as well. This is a clean installation,
    services and freeloading apps are kept to a bare minimum, etc.

    As my title indicates, the update causes *every* Windows Store game and *every* Xbox (beta) to crash at the loader\logo screen. Examining the crashes in Win Reliability Monitor reveals an extremely similar exception in every game:

    - Most games and some apps (including GameBar, Hellblade, Crackdown3, Halo5Forge, GoW4 and Vampyr) crash almost immediately and throw exception code c0000005 (Access Violation). I can only imagine this is due to unused/legacy codepaths in the executable
    interacting inappropriately with the new xbox framework, an incompatible driver or the new windows update.

    - MetroExodus appears to have much better exception handling but unfortunately, still crashes, likely from the same root cause. It throws exception code c0000409 (Fail Fast) indicating that the developers at least tried implement exception handling for this
    sort of scenario.

    Here are some relevant specs for my pc and driver info:

    If you tried the standard troubleshooting and this is with all games then it would be best too send a bug report from that device. You can do that by downloading the feedback app from the microsoft store. This will send your report too the right team who
    dont moniter these forums. You can also tag on data logs and screenshots too help the team out

    XGP active on my account but I can't use it

    You're right !

    It looks like my subscription is on my gamertag account and my store account is a second accound tied to my Windows account.

    Well, I the the best option is to refund the XGP on my gamertag to take it again directly from the app.

    I'll try that tomorrow and update my post. Maybe it will help someone else.

    Edit : So yes, if you have a store account link to you game account, you won't be able to use XGP if you bought it using game account...

    I refund my XGP on game account to get it on my store account and I am able to play now

    Make sure you are on 1903 win10 version (type winver on search).If not download windows update assistant and follow the steps to update windows.

    Download and use Xbox beta app

    Login with your account you have upgraded to xgp ultimate

    I managed to fix this by uninstalling the game again, resetting the windows store, updating the Xbox Game Pass app and then downloading the game through the XGP app rather than Window's store, although I notice that they both run simultaneously. I was also
    careful not to hit "play game" before the download had finished completely. Hopefully this advice will help others, especially those in China.

    Hi,

    Windows Apps and games from the Store (and XGP) are stored in an encrypted and protected folder. The encryption of this folder is only valid for the duration of the current Windows install.

    So, if apps are stored on another drive and either Windows is installed from scratch or the drive is moved to a different PC, the files held in this folder are no longer accessible.

    Not all Windows games on the XGP program have cloud storage, the program is after still in beta and is not as fully functional as Steam (which as a PC gamer I use a lot of).

    For games that don't have cloud saving, most save files can be found in the 'Appdata' folders in your Windows Account user-name.
